Dinners On

Tonight I was creating in the kitchen...
Here is dinner for tonight...
Mushroom Turkey Rice Casserole
2 cups cooked rice (I use white and brown in combination)
2-3 cups sauteed mushroom (variety of mushrooms, whatever you have)
1 quart Turkey in broth
1 can dice Chik (low fat variety)
1 stock celery (diced)
1 yellow onion
1 bunch green onions chopped
Sautee onions and mushrooms until tender. Add turkey, dice chik, and  celery. Simmer until everything is heated and tender.

I served it with steamed broccoli and asparagus... Leftovers tomorrow for lunch as it made more than we needed.

Friendship Books and Label Bags

I was searching swap-bot this morning to see what was new and came across friendship books and Label Bags... I was instantly intrigued... I search Swag-bucks and found a couple links... What an awesome idea and a great way to be creative and use up my stash.  I found a great site that you can print blank label bags, LetterSets has an assortment of fun print your own label bags as well as a great assortment of cards and such. I printed a the plain ones to start (I think I will add a little decoration to them).  I can see this becoming another swap-bot addiction but also a benefit for our homeschool... (the boys can search the map for where the FBs and LBs come from and are going to...)
Here is one of the swaps I signed up for.

I hope to post pictures of my art journal pages I've made for a couple swaps later tonight or at least this weekend.

Snow Day Lunch

Since it snowed overnight (no I didn't take a picture of it) and the boys played most of the morning outside I decided to make an easy favorite for lunch today.

Chicken,  Beans, and Rice

3/4 cups rice (I use a mix of white and brown)
1 1/2 cups chicken broth
1 can black beans
1 can corn
1 can white chicken (could also use leftover chicken if you have it)
Salsa or hot sauce to taste. ( I love Rooster sauce, hot and cheap)

Cook rice as directed (I cook it on the stove), add corn (drained), black beans (rinsed and drained), and chicken (drained) simmer for about 10 minutes to warm beans, corn, and chicken.
Add salsa or hot sauce to each serving to taste.

This is a favorite, easy, one dish meal.

Don't take it personally, or Do???

I have become addicted to swap-bot, an online swapping community... Lately however I have been sick and trying to keep up on life and creating art is hard...  So, I put a message on my profile about being sick and that I was running a little behind on several of my swaps but was catching up... I also sent out messages to partners letting them know why their cards were late. For the most part people have been very kind.... So I'm wondering is constructive criticism really constructive in a public forum? Before rating with a lower rating wouldn't it make sense to contact the person and give them a chance to make it right before giving a lower rating? Since the cards being sent are things I've made shouldn't I take it personally?   When rating a person I tend to read profiles if the cards isn't as fancy as some before I rate a lower rating.. I look at the bigger picture, perhaps I'm wrong in doing that....

Little Mechanic

How I wish I could upload the video from my cell phone... Last night my husband changed the oil in my Mazda minivan as it was seriously overdue... Well my youngest Nathan decided to help. Mike let him finish tightening up the bolts on some air cleaner pieces as well as put the cap back on the oil filler... Nathan got to use the jack to raise up the van and move the blocks and then lowered the van back to the ground... It was so cute... I snapped a couple pictures on my phone as well as 3 15 second video clips... If my phone wasn't so old and such a piece of crap I would share....
